Try using an external antenna, it might work. If you can still connect to the internet with a wired tether or Ethernet cable, but not find any wireless networks, the antenna in your hardware might not be working. Things I tried: disabling and enabling airplane mode (still no internet), managing internet adaptors in the control panel (still no internet), updating drivers (still no internet), plugging an external antenna (despite the antenna heating up, Windows didn't recognize it, so, no internet), connecting my cell phone via a wired tether (connection dependent on my phone, so if it didn't connect I'd lose connection) and connecting it directly with an Ethernet cable (internet connection worked). I had a similar problem with my Asus Inspire One computer.
